The fourth largest city in Finland, City of Vantaa, adopted applied games in co-designing of public urban spaces with the city’s residents. The goal was to collect opinions about and improve the plans of the future centre of the Myyrmäki district. The applied games team in our Helsinki office created a game which was based on an environmental master plan by WSP.
In the game, the users were able to choose between different surface materials and textures, lighting solutions and urban art. The interactive co-design tool was available online for 3,5 months. The tool was open for everyone. The most popular choices were saved and collected, and the information about the residents’ favourite solutions for the future of Myyrmäki centre will be used in the future stages of development.
